If you think art museums are quiet, minimal, and serene… think again. At Fotografiska Stockholm, I stepped straight into what might be the most surreal, chaotic, and visually overstimulating art experience I’ve ever had — ToiletFotoPaperGrafiska by TOILETPAPER.
This exhibition, which runs from March 8 to June 8, 2025, is the largest European showcase by the Italian duo Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari — the founders of TOILETPAPER Magazine. What started as a bold, absurdist photo publication in 2010 has now exploded into a three-dimensional fever dream right in the heart of Stockholm.
And yes, there is a pool filled with thousands of fake bananas.

What to Expect at Toiletpaper Fotografiska
The creators describe it best: “It’s like if you’re invited to the best party of your life, where everybody is super drunk and you are the only sober person in the room.”
That’s what it felt like.
From dayglo colors and subversive humor to strange objects and hidden “Easter eggs” in the art, ToiletFotoPaperGrafiska doesn’t try to make sense — and that’s the point. It’s rebellious, unfiltered, and bizarre.
If you like dark satire, commentary on beauty, consumption, and power — but with the energy of an ad campaign gone rogue — you’ll love this.
There’s no AI behind these images either — every prop is handmade in TOILETPAPER’s Milan studio. It’s art that refuses to be subtle.

*****
ToiletFotoPaperGrafiska is exactly what Stockholm’s art scene needs — a visual shock to the system. Whether you’re into photography, absurdist humor, or just want to escape the ordinary, this is an experience that stays with you. Bring a friend, a curious mind, and maybe a camera — just be ready to question everything (including why there’s a giant tongue on the wall).
