As the grey clouds loomed over Stockholm on a Monday, we checked into The Winery Hotel for a much-needed staycation. This unique destination seamlessly blends urban sophistication with the essence of a vineyard, offering a one-of-a-kind experience centered around wine.

Wine Experience at the Winery Hotel

The Winery Hotel is not only a place to stay—it’s a wine experience. With its own winery on-site and a direct connection to the Terreno vineyard in Tuscany, the hotel brings the art of winemaking to the heart of Solna in Stockholm. From grape to glass, every step of the process is handled with care, ensuring that guests can truly immerse themselves in the world of wine.

Guided Winery Tour & Wine Tasting at the Winery Hotel

One of the highlights of your stay could be the guided winery tour, a perfect opportunity to witness the craftsmanship behind a bottle of wine. The tour lasts about twenty minutes and include a tasting of the hotel’s own Winery Red. The process is fascinating—grapes are harvested in Tuscany and immediately transported in a temperature-controlled truck to Solna, where the magic happens. The passionate staff, all involved in the winemaking process, made the experience even more special.

Winemakers Bar at the Winery Hotel

Located in the hotel lobby, Winemakers Bar is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. Not only does it offer wines from the hotel’s own vineyard, but also a curated selection from around the world. The wine dispensers (vinomater) were a standout feature, allowing guests to sample rare and exclusive wines by purchasing a pre-loaded tasting card. This innovative system made it easy to explore different wines at our own pace, whether opting for a small tasting or a full glass.

Rooftop Pool with a View in Stockholm

After the wine flights, we headed to the rooftop pool, which is heated and open year-round. Floating in warm water while taking in the scenic views of Brunnsviken and Hagaparken was pure magic. The pool area is reserved for hotel guests, and after 12 PM, it’s an adults-only oasis—ideal for unwinding with a glass of wine while watching the sun set over Friends Arena. During our visit we had the pool for ourselves which was extra nice.

Dinner at the Winery Hotel

For dinner, we dined at Terreno Kitchen, where the philosophy is simple: wine comes first, and food is crafted to complement it. My meal was a beautifully prepared baked cod loin with mussel sauce, confit turnip, white beans, and baked tomatoes. For dessert, I indulged in Wrångebäck cheese served with brioche, hazelnuts, and browned butter. The sommelier paired our meal with the 2022 Terreno Bianco Professore from Tuscany—a good match that elevated the dining experience.

A Note for Future Visitors

The hotel’s second restaurant, Gallo Nero, is an Italian trattoria inspired by Tuscany’s rich culinary traditions. Unfortunately, it’s closed on Mondays, so if you’re planning a stay, keep that in mind!

Additionally, parking at the hotel costs 180 SEK per car, which felt a bit odd considering we were paying guests. It’s something to be aware of if you’re arriving by car.

Stylish & Modern Rooms

Our room had a view towards the E4 road, which added to the urban experience of staying at The Winery Hotel. The rooms felt quite new and fresh, with a modern design that complemented the hotel’s overall aesthetic. The combination of industrial architecture and coziness made for a comfortable and stylish stay.
