Africa is a world unlike any other! When most people think of the continent, they only think of the top tourist destinations like Morocco and South Africa. But let me tell you, there is so much more to explore! Each country has its own unique history and culture, and the natural beauty is truly breathtaking.
I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing some of Africa’s most unforgettable adventures. From climbing Kilimanjaro and swimming with whale sharks in Mafia island, to spending a night underwater and even adopting an elephant! I even got to kiss a giraffe and fly in a hot air balloon above the Serengeti during the great animal migration. But trust me when I say, I’ve only scratched the surface of what Africa has to offer. So what are you waiting for? There’s an adventure waiting for you on the African continent!
Africa is a world of adventure with so much to explore, from the vast landscapes to the diverse wildlife. Deciding when to go depends on your interests and what you’re looking to experience during your trip.
If you want to go on a safari, then it’s best to visit Africa during the dry season, which is from May to August. During this time, the animals gather around waterholes, making it easier to spot them. However, if you want to witness the famous animal migration, you may want to plan your visit during the rainy season. I was lucky enough to witness this spectacle myself and didn’t experience any rain. Plus, with the lack of rain, it was easier to spot the animals!
I’ve had the opportunity to explore some incredible safari destinations, including Kenya, Tanzania, but other incredible safari destinations are Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Trust me; you won’t be disappointed with any of them! Learn more about the best time to go on a safari in Africa and plan your adventure today.

Central Africa: Central Africa is a region that comprises Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Sao Tome and Principe, and South Sudan. Witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration that takes place every year from July to September, or climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. For those looking for a more luxurious getaway or an off-the-beaten-path adventure, Madagascar, Seychelles, Reunion, and Mauritius are just a short flight away. Western Africa: Ghana is a great entry point for travelers to West Africa, especially for those who are new to the region. With its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and rich history, it’s no wonder why it’s often referred to as “Africa for Beginners.” For those interested in the history of the Atlantic Slave Trade, Ghana’s Cape Coast and Elmina castles provide a sobering and educational experience. Senegal, Gambia, Benin, and Cape Verde are also popular destinations in West Africa, each with their unique culture, history, and attractions.
Malaria and Yellow Fever: It’s important to consult with your doctor or a travel health clinic well in advance of your trip to Africa to discuss any necessary vaccinations or medications, such as Yellow Fever and Malaria prophylaxis. Some countries may also require proof of vaccination against Yellow Fever upon entry, so it’s important to check the requirements for the specific countries you plan to visit.
