I often get asked about my travel gear and photography equipment for my travel blogging. While I’m not a professional photographer, I do love capturing and sharing my travel experiences through beautiful photos and videos.
Through trial and error, I’ve improved my photography and editing skills, and have found some favorites along the way. So, if you’re wondering what photography equipment to bring for your travel blogging adventures, I’ve got you covered!
Camera Body
Let’s talk about the age-old excuse we all use – “I don’t have the right gear.” We all want to have the latest and greatest gadgets, but let’s be honest, that’s not realistic. Gear will always keep evolving, and it’s not necessary to have everything in your bag to take amazing photos. Trust me; I’ve been there. I used to think that without the perfect camera or accessories, I wasn’t ready to pursue photography as a passion or career. But over time, I’ve realized that’s not true. I mean, sure, the gear can help, but it’s not what makes a photographer. In this post, I’ll be sharing what’s in my camera bag, but remember, this is just what works for me. You can tailor your gear according to your style and budget. After all, all you need is a vision, drive, and practice.
Sony A7RII Mirrorless Camera
When I first considered upgrading to a full-frame camera, I wasn’t sure if it was worth the investment. But after trying out the Sony Alpha A7RII, I was completely hooked. With its full-frame sensor optimized for 4K video and 42.4 MP, this camera is perfect for both travel and adventure photography or video. Plus, when paired with the Sony FE 28-70mm kit lens, it’s a compact and versatile kit that can meet all your needs. I decided to go for it, knowing it’s the only camera I’ll need for the foreseeable future. However, if the A7RII is outside your budget or has more features than you need, don’t worry! There are plenty of other affordable options out there that can still capture stunning photos.

GoPro Hero 11 Black
If you’re looking for a compact camera that can handle all your outdoor adventures, then a GoPro is a must! This amazing little camera is waterproof and built to withstand even the toughest conditions. Whether you’re shooting time-lapses of a breathtaking sunrise in Bali or taking a dive into the stunning waters of Rangiroa, the GoPro HERO 11 Black is the perfect travel companion. I love using my GoPro for capturing underwater moments, especially when we’re not going too deep. It’s the perfect tool for taking those amazing underwater shots and videos. Plus, I have this awesome dome that allows me to capture stunning over-under shots! It’s one of my favorite accessories for the GoPro and always adds a unique touch to my photos. Don’t forget to bring along extra GoPro batteries and a mount for those extended shoots!
I used a GoPro to take an underwater selfie with my dog in Norway.
DJI Mavic Pro
I absolutely love using my drone for capturing unique and stunning aerial shots during my travels. It’s always exciting to see the world from a different perspective! I personally use the DJI Mavic Pro, which is not only lightweight but also easily fits into my camera bag.
However, it’s important to note that drones are heavily regulated in many places, so make sure you do your research before bringing one on your trip. You’ll need to be responsible and follow all the necessary rules and regulations to ensure that you’re not breaking any laws or putting anyone’s safety at risk. But, if you do it right, using a drone can take your photography and videography game to the next level!
With a drone like DJI Mavic Pro, you can capture stunning perspectives like this one in Australia that simply aren’t possible from the ground.
Apple Iphone 13 Smart Phone
Are you on a tight budget for your next travel adventure but still want to take stunning photos? Well, consider using your iPhone instead! These smartphones have come a long way with their impressive camera technology and editing apps. Plus, did you know that your iPhone can also act as a WiFi remote for your camera? So, even if you don’t have an SLR camera, your iPhone can still be your go-to for capturing those picture-perfect moments on your travels.
Editing Tools
Apple Macbook Air
I prefer the lightweight and compact size of the Apple MacBook Pro 14.2″ for traveling, but for heavy video editing, go for the 16.2″.
Adobe Creative Cloud
My photos went from good to great when I started shooting in RAW and editing with Adobe Lightroom CC. This simple change in my workflow allowed me to edit my photos with more control while preserving the original image quality. Plus, I only pay $11USD a month for the entire Adobe Creative Cloud suite, which includes not only Lightroom but also Photoshop and many other powerful tools that could take your photography to the next level.
Camera Accessories & Other Gear
My camera bag is filled with travel photography accessories that enhance my photography and videos.
Underwater Housing for GoPro
Whenever I’m planning a trip that involves some water activities, I never forget to pack my underwater dome for my GoPro Hero. It’s a game-changer for me! Although it can be a bit tricky to use, it produces high-quality images and captures colors like never before, especially in deeper water.

Lace 4TB Rugged Mini Portable Hard Drive
When it comes to traveling with my photography gear, my portable hard drive is a must-have. I’m not always gentle with my gear, and I often need to transfer data on the go, so I go for the Lacie Rugged Mini. It’s durable and reliable, and gives me that extra peace of mind. Plus, having backup hard drives at home is a smart move, just in case anything goes wrong while traveling. Trust me, it’s saved me more than once!
