When I'm out in the great outdoors, one thing that can make or break my camping trip is the food. But gourmet meals by the campfire don't have to be complicated. Here are four simple yet delicious recipes that will take your camping cuisine to the next level.

1. Fire-Roasted Flatbread With Apple & Carrot Salad

Soft flatbreads or tortillas filled with cheese and vegetables are a perfect appetizer on the grill. Grill the slices first, then add mayonnaise, marmalade, or anything you like. Enjoy while waiting for the next bread to cook over the coals.

Ingredients

1 apple
2 carrots
4 flat or tortilla breads
1 slice of unsalted butter
Mayonnaise
Sea salt
Black pepper
Grated Cheese, for serving

Salmon or Meat of preference

Directions

Step 1
Preheat Trangia portable stove or open fire, add butter.

Step 2
Grate carrots and apple. Divide the grated carrot, apple and cheese on top of the flat bread. If adding fish or meat, prepare those beforehand on the grill and add those together with the veggies and cheese. Season each flat bread with a pinch of sea salt and a pinch of black pepper.

Step 3
Place the flatbread on the portable stove or open fire. Then fold the flatbread and wait until the bread has gotten a golden color and the cheese has melted. Fold top or bottom edges to seal.

Step 4
Sprinkle each flatbread with mayonnaise, add preferable preserves and serve.

2. Rårakor With Bleak Roe - Crispy Swedish Potato Cakes

"Rårakor" is a luxurious yet simple dish that's perfect as both an appetizer or a main course. Grated potatoes are fried into thin, crispy potato pancakes in butter. To elevate the dish, top the "rårakor" with bleak roe, finely chopped red onion, sour cream, and dill.

2 potatoes
1 bleak roe
1 red onion
Sour cream / Smetana

Step 1

Grate potatoes. Squeeze together the grated potatoes to a ball, place it on the stove and make it flat. Season each potato cake with a pinch of sea salt.

Turn the potato cake and wait until both sides has gotten a golden color.

Add bleak roe, sour cream, grated red onion, top it with dill and serve.

3. Pizza Rolls

Quick pizza rolls are a delightful recipe where you make delicious pizza in a new and easy way. You use ready-made pizza dough with tomato sauce, fill it with cheese and other toppings, roll it up, and cut it into rolls. Excellent for enjoying when you're out in nature!

1 pizza kit
1 grated cheese

Step 1

Roll out the dough. Spread tomato sauce and add grated cheese and other toppings.

Step 3
Cut the roll into slices approximately 2 cm thick. Put a couple of rolls on the stove or open fire.

Step 4
Fry the rolls for a few minutes on each side, and when they have a golden brown color and the dough is cooked, the rolls are ready. It's fun to prepare together on the trip, but you can also prepare the rolls at home if you prefer.

4. Blueberry Crumb Pie With Vanilla Sauce

Blueberry pie is probably the world's most delicious treat. Make sure to use fresh blueberries for an extra burst of flavor. Serve it with a scoop of delicious vanilla sauce or vanilla ice cream.

1 Blueberries
1.5 dl oats or nut granola
2 tbs sugar
1 slice of unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1
Preheat Trangia portable stove or open fire, add butter.

Add oats or granola together with sugar in the pan on the portable stove or open fire. Then add more butter.

Step 3
Sauté the blend until getting enough color. Add the blueberries and let them become warm for a little bit.

Step 4
Serve with vanilla sauce.
